Purpose:

  • Create a welcoming, safe, and comfortable internal and external facility/environment
  • Maintain all church property, ensuring safe and proper use of the building and adequate maintenance of the grounds
  • Develop buildings and grounds use protocols 
  • Recommend funding for repairs and capital improvements as needed

Responsibilities

  • Authorize payments for services (electrician, snow removal, plumbing, boiler servicing, etc.).
  • Reconcile monthly operations report prepared by the Treasurer against team activities.
  • Ensure that buildings and grounds meet all appropriate safety and accessibility requirements
  • Maintain the building: 
    1. Boiler/heat maintenance, building repair, repair or replacement of furniture
    2. Work with technical congregants to maintain electronic equipment including sound system, internet/wireless, office equipment, etc. 
    3. Maintain kitchen equipment and supplies 
    4. Recycle waste, collect and manage compost generated in the kitchen 
  • Maintain the grounds: 
    1. Lawn and tree care 
    2. Clear and appropriate signage 
    3. Maintenance of mower 
    4. Snow removal 
  • Orient organizations that use the church building/property by providing building access, facility walk-throughs, etc. 
  • Share our church space with the community in a safe and supportive way Establish a process for approving meeting space for groups consistent with our mission and members’ community activities, balancing use by outside groups with internal needs. 

Financial Responsibilities 

  • Use the Capital Accrual Fund to further the long-term plan noted below. 
  • Use the Lewis Fund to make improvements to the Lewis Reading Room 
  • Use the Oliver Fund for construction needs throughout the church.

  • Develop long-term buildings & grounds plans that meet the needs of members and the  community 
  • Request creation of Capital Campaigns for major expenses and initiatives
  • Identify opportunities to reflect our faith and mission in the buildings and grounds
