The Rev. Marraine Kettell was called to the church in January 2010 and has been our pastor since April 2010. Pastor Marraine grew up in Maine and has been involved in the United Church of Christ starting at age five. She attended Susquehanna University as an undergraduate. She also holds a Master of French from Middlebury College. She received a Master of Divinity from Andover Newton Theological School and was ordained at Old South Church in Boston in November, 2006. She served churches in the Boston area during seminary. Her first call was to St. John’s United Church of Christ in Emmaus, PA.
She has lived, worked, and played, and served in Maine, Massachusetts, France, Pennsylvania, and now New York State. She lives in Corning with her cats – half of whom came from sources at this church. Marraine loves this church and living in the Finger Lakes region surrounded by great places to hike and fantastic wineries.
Brenda Passmore has been our hard-working Administrative Assistant since April 2013. Previously she worked as the Administrative Assistant at Emanuel Lutheran Church and as a Teaching Assistant for the Corning Painted Post School District. When she’s not hard at work preparing church bulletins and newsletters, Brenda keeps busy still trying to parent two grown children Ellen and Joe, enjoying her husband Jim, and driving her mother Elvina and dog Rosie around town. She also loves biking, hiking, camping, reading, and a good yard sale!
Eleanor Perry grew up in Central Pennsylvania and earned two degrees in Music Education at Mansfield University. Much of her time is spent with her private piano students and with her greenhouse business as a grower and seller of flowers and vegetable plants from late winter through early summer.
She still can make time for hobbies. She is an avid reader of all kinds of novels. She is an avid Yankees fan and watches games on TV. She has four children – all successful in their endeavors and ten grandchildren who she’d like to see more.
